Belonging to a minority is a sin in Pakistan, Erica Robin is suffering from that fate, this highlights the medieval mindset of Pakistan.

The biggest sin of any person on Earth is being born in Pakistan. This seems exactly the case for any women, particularly for women of minority communities.

While Hindus continue to suffer, the same fate is that of Christians. It is in this context that we must understand the plight of Erica Robin.

Erica Robin is a 24 year model and management graduate who holds a degree in business administration. She was born in Karachi and began her modelling career in January 2022.

However, her life took a turn for the worse very recently after she won laurels for her country.

What Exactly Happened?

On October 5, Erica Robin won the Miss Universe Pakistan held in the scenic country of Maldives.

Now, she is gearing up to represent her country in the Miss Universe pageant to be held in El Salvador next month.

While many people were celebrating Robin’s achievement, her selection to represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant has infuriated many politicians and religious leaders in Pakistan.

Many of them questioned the legality of the contest, one of the extreme reactions in this context has come from the caretaker Prime Minister himself.

Anwar Ul Haq Kakar has asked the intelligence agencies to probe the matter and take stern action against the organizers.

Many parties, particularly the Jamaat-e-Islami have lambasted the government and Erica Robin for “putting Pakistan in bad light”.

No Country for Women

Pakistan and Pakistanis pride themselves in being the so-called ‘Jazbewala Qaum’.

But the reality of Pakistan is that it is a broken, medieval society which is controlled by the Mullah-Military nexus.

Pakistan is one of the world’s most dangerous place for women.

Patriarchy looms large in Pakistan, women are not only not allowed to make independent decisions, but Islam is used as a convienient tool to undermine the autonomy of women.

What is Erica’s Fault?

Erica’s fault is that she was born in Pakistan. But her most grievious sin is that she is a Christian.

Recently, a mob torched several churches in Pakistan on the allegations of blasphemy. Christians and Hindus are living in a state of siege in Pakistan.

The Islamists consider that by representing her country at an international beauty contest, she has committed a crime, as serious as blasphemy.

But one thing is very clear-Pakistan never values its minorities and never values women. It will never progress.

Hence, there is little doubt belonging to a minority is a sin in Pakistan.
