In a shocking turn of events on the evening of November 23rd, violence erupted in Dublin, Ireland, following a knife attack that left at least four people injured, including three children. The assailant, identified as an “Irish national” of Algerian origin, carried out the attack in the city center near Parnell Square. The incident has triggered a wave of protests, raising questions about immigration policies and societal tensions in the country.

The Attack and Victims:

During the afternoon attack, three young children and a woman were stabbed, with two of them, a girl and a woman, sustaining serious injuries. The injured individuals were rushed to various hospitals in Dublin for emergency treatment. Reports indicate that the accused, described as a “naturalized Irish citizen who has lived here for 20 years” was also injured. He was subsequently taken to the hospital.

Contrasting Reports:

Conflicting reports emerged regarding the nature of the attack. Some sources, including Gript Media, suggest the accused’s Algerian origin. The Irish police, as per PBS, stated that they are not treating the incident as terror-related. Investigations are ongoing to understand the motive behind the attack.

Public Response and Unrest:

The aftermath of the incident witnessed a surge in public unrest and protests, with anti-immigrant sentiments taking center stage. Social media played a significant role in mobilizing angry protests, leading to disruptions in public transportation and acts of vandalism.

The National Bus and Rail Union instructed the withdrawal of bus services in Dublin, causing severe disruptions to the city’s transit system.

Riots and Garda Response:

Passers-by on the street reportedly intervened to stop the attacker, subduing him and disarming him of the knife. With the assailant detained, the police assured the public that they are not seeking additional suspects. However, the situation escalated as anti-immigrant protesters clashed with law enforcement, kicking police shields and causing chaos on the streets.

Political Reactions and Accusations:

Amidst the turmoil, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris attributed the riots to a “lunatic, hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology.” Justice Minister Helen McEntee condemned the protesters as “thugs” and “criminals,” accusing them of exploiting the tragic incident to sow division and wreak havoc in the city. These strong statements have added fuel to the already simmering tensions surrounding immigration policies in Ireland.

Social Media Outrage:

International media outlets, including CNN, labelled the protests as “far-right,” eliciting strong reactions on social media from Irish citizens. The reaction is “far right” because the accused is of Algerian origin! The hypocrisy of the Left is astounding!
