The controversy initiated when a video emerged. It showed Kamiya Jani in conversation with BJD leader VK Pandian on the sacred grounds of the Jagannath temple. The Odisha BJP reacted strongly, questioning how someone allegedly promoting beef consumption like Kamiya Jani gained access to the revered premises. The party promptly demanded legal action, urging the registration of a case under IPC Section 295 A against both VK Pandian and Kamiya Jani, insisting on their immediate arrest.

Beef Promotion?

The Odisha BJP shared a screenshot from one of Kamiya Jani’s previous videos where she promotes “beef dishes.” This contrasted with the current video, where Jani endorsed the Puri Srimandir Heritage Corridor project and Mahaprasad alongside BJD leader Pandian. The party expressed outrage, accusing VK Pandian of disregarding the sacred sanctity of the temple and allowing a “beef promoter” onto the premises.

Jatin Mohanty, the General Secretary of Odisha BJP, echoed these sentiments. He emphasized that according to the temple’s traditions, individuals who consume beef must undergo penance before entering. He accused VK Pandian of facilitating Kamiya Jani’s entry into the temple, claiming that the incident had hurt the sentiments of millions of Hindus and devotees of Lord Jagannath. The party demanded immediate action from the government and an apology from the temple administration.

Clarification

Kamiya Jani took to Instagram to clarify her stance. In her Instagram story, she stated,

“Not that anyone has reached out to me yet, but just here to clarify that I don’t and have never eaten beef. Jai Jagannath.”

She also emphasized her mission as an Indian to showcase the country’s culture and heritage to the world.

It was noted that Kamiya Jani claimed to have never eaten beef personally. However, her channel had, on several occasions, promoted restaurants and places that serve beef items.

The situation remains tense. It needs to be understood that temples are not playgrounds. Sanatanis will not tolerate this fettering with Sanatana Dharma anymore!!
