Now comes the clincher! Despite the gravity of the allegations, the response from West Bengal Police is woefully inadequate. Mamata’s Police seek to downplay the severity of the situation. They dismiss claims of rape and sexual assault as “Misinformation.” Mamata Bano’s callous indifference to the plight of the victims is reflected in the words of the West Bengal Police.
All instances of abuse of women by Sheikh Shahjahan and his goons are being swept under the carpet! The state machinery and TMC fails in its duty to protect vulnerable women and uphold the honor of the abused women of Sandeshkhali.
In the face of mounting pressure and public outrage, West Bengal’s National Women’s Commission constitutes a 10-member panel to investigate the matter. Mamata Banerjee and her TMC’s influence on the investigation by the commision is obvious. The commision is under pressure. The victims are being asked to denying the testimony given against Sheikh Shahjahan. The NCW are trying to secure the well-being of all the women coming forward to report sexual abuse. However, their promises of security are not a guarantee of safety. How can they be if the West Bengal Police is itslef the coercive force???
The saga of mass rape of Sandeshkhali has eroded the faith of these exploited women in West Bengal’s institutions. Thus, only a few have reported molestation. No woman is ready to officially report rape to these women from the NWC. Why? They do not trust these authorized and in power henchmen of Mamata Bao in the state. Mamata Banerjee and her cronies have resorted to shameless tactics to deflect blame for the mass rape in Sandeshkhali. To discredit TMC’s critics, Mamata Bano has embarked on victim shaming! Instead of addressing the root causes and hunting down Sheikh Shahjahan, the TMC leaders smear the victims as BJP agents. The victim shaming campaign in West Bengal has begun! The feminists and liberals, who shouted themselves hoarse on abuse of women in Manipur, are silently watching this shameful Bengali drama! The Congress cabal is silent. Moreover, the SC/ST activists are in hiding! No one is ready to stand against Mamata Bano her goons for the honor of these women. The BJP leaders are not allowed to enter the region of conflict in West Bengal. The nation is grappling with the shocking stories of mass rape from Sandeshkhali.
