In the heart of Ayodhya, where the construction of the grand Ram Mandir is underway, a tale of sacrifice and devotion unfolds. Family’s Financial Hardship:


Vasudev Gupta was a resident of Ayodhya. He ran a sweet shop in Nayaghat to support his wife, three daughters and two sons. However, after his demise on October 30, 1990, the family found themselves struggling with severe financial hardship. He was shot dead orders of the then Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Support from Ram Janmbhoomi Trust:


In their darkest times, the Vishva Hindu Parishad and Ram Janmbhoomi Trust extended a helping hand to the Gupta family. Sandeep Gupta, Vasudev’s son, was employed in the locker department of Ramjanmbhoomi. It was a gesture of support instructed by VHP functionary Champat Rai.

Shakuntala Gupta Completes Vasudev’s Task:


Seema Gupta shared that her mother, Shakuntala Gupta, was also a devoted follower of Lord Ram. After Vasudev’s death, she took it upon herself to support the family.

Shakuntala started a clothing store and managed to get her son and two daughters married with the earnings. She even provided treatment to injured karsevaks during the time.

Vasudev’s Sacrifice and Threats:


Vasudev Gupta was a devotee of Bajrang Bali, felt compelled to join the Ram Mandir liberation movement to save the honor of Ayodhya’s residents. He was shot and killed on October 30, 1990, while participating in the movement. Seema Gupta recalled the challenges her mother faced in obtaining Vasudev’s body for the final rites, as there was initial reluctance to hand it over.

The family also received a threatening letter from Hizbul Mujahideen, adding to their hardships. Shakuntala reported the letter to the administration.

Fulfillment of Vasudev’s Dream:


The Gupta family faces adversities, but the construction of Lord Ram’s Mandir brings them joy. Sandeep and Seema express their happiness. They assert that their father’s dream has materialized. They expect the temple to commemorate the sacrifices made by Vasudev and others, and Seema anticipates that the administration will erect a memorial in her father’s honor.

Vasudev Gupta’s story epitomizes sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering devotion to Lord Ram. As the nation celebrates the construction of the Ram Mandir, we must remember and honor the sacrifices made by individuals like Vasudev. They actively laid down their lives for the cause.
