In a show of strength a mob of thousands of cap-wearing ‘peacefuls’ obstruct the path of law enforcement. Let’s talk about the use of the street veto to cripple law enforcement and the power of hate speech in ‘peacefuls’.
Reports state that the Gujarat Police took Mufti Salman Azhari into a 2-day remand custody on Sunday evening. The ‘hate speech‘ accused Azhari faced Gujarat ATS, Mumbai ATS, and Mumbai Police at his home in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. He submitted to the legal forces and is to be transmitted to Junagadh. The event organizers Mohammad Yousuf Malek and Azim Habib Odedara, of where the inflammatory remarks went viral, are already under police custody in Junagadh.
The Mumbai court approved the two-day transit remand of Mufti. However, Azhari’s legal team opposes the remand and the custody. They raise concerns about the legality of the detention. Citing procedural irregularities, they have given many media bytes asserting that Azhari’s detention is unlawful.
Followers of Mufti Salman Azhari immediately roused a sizable crowd outside his residence once news of the imminent arrest came out. The police were unable to take Mufti away into custody for several hours due to the presence of a hostile mob in the area. Thus, the Police were forced to ask Mufti to make a public declaration of his consent to the arrest. Additionally, he pleaded with his followers not to obstruct the law enforcement agencies and marr his innocence.
However, it took a while for the assurances to have any effect. Despite the requests by both the local police and Mufti himself, the peacefuls were out there in Mumbai to flex their street power! The gathered crowd endangered not just the lives of the police forces but also the residents of the area!
Monday morning, another peaceful crowd surrounded the Ghatkopar Police Station demanding Mufti Smalam Azhari’s immediate release. The Mumbai Police swiftly responded to the situation, assuring the public of peace and security. DCP Hemrajsingh Rajput assures the locals that law enforcement is vigilant and active in maintaining order.
The controversy surrounding Mufti Salman Azhari’s arrest shows the perils of peacefuls mobs. The street veto power of a peaceful congregation is an alarming trend with disastrous consequences in Bharat. Adding fuel to fire, radicals disguised as social media influencers are busy trying to justify hate speech as an Islamic couplet! They seem to think an inflammatory couplet that asks for war is a form of artistic expression. Why is it difficult for them to analyze the effect of the couplet on the minds of a naive Indian Muslim?
At the heart of the matter lies the fact that the peacefuls do not believe in the laws of Bharat. For them Islam and Sharia reign supreme! Whenever and wherever possible, the Islamist prefer to instill fear of Allah in the most violent way dictated by their ‘peaceful’ book. However, Mufti Salman Azhari’s video shows the reality of peaceful discourse. Inflammatory speech, anti-Hindiu sentiments, and a ‘jazba’ for ‘gazwa’ can easily surmise all Muslim community events in Bharat. Therefore, rallying cries under the guise of Islamic faith should ignite concerns about communal harmony. Azhari’s rhetoric, laden with emotive language and historical references, is dangerous to communal harmony.
Hopefully, the detention of Mufti Salman Azhari and his event organizers will ensure that Islamists think twice before using controversial speeches for quick rise to fame. The delicate balance between freedom of expression and social responsibility should be the key takeaway for the ‘peacefuls’ form of these events. As debates across the country continue to unfold, it remains imperative for all Bharatvasis to respect the authorities and the rule of law. Street veto should not be used to obstruct justice. Threatening the POlice to whom you submit the responsibility of your security is never a good idea! Moreover, giving a show of Islamic strength is equivalent to asking for Sharia!
