Amidst the festivities of Christmas, a recurring narrative emerges. It suggests that Jesus was Palestinian. This narrative often finds resonance among those with political motivations. These are Palestinian supporters and Islamists, seeking to leverage religious figures to advance their geopolitical objectives.

Origins of the Narrative:

Bethlehem, a city in Israel’s West Bank, is the birthplace of Jesus. Despite historical evidence affirming this fact, a contrived narrative has taken root, particularly during the Christmas season, asserting that Jesus was Palestinian. This narrative gains traction from individuals aiming to deny the existence of a Jewish state. They exploit Jesus’ story to legitimize their claims over disputed lands.

Social Media Dynamics:

In the age of social media, myths and propaganda find fertile ground.

Personalities like Swara Bhasker, known for her outspoken views, have utilized platforms like X to propagate the unverified claim that Jesus was a Palestinian.

Debunking the Narrative:

Contrary to the fabricated myth, Jesus was a devout Jew who lived in Judea and Galilee throughout his life. Historical Christian accounts validate his Jewish heritage, detailing instances such as circumcision, participation in synagogue activities, and partaking in a Passover seder. The attempt to recast Jesus as Palestinian is a strategic ploy to garner Christian support for Palestinian nationalism while conveniently overlooking the historical roots of Judaism in the region.

The Islamist Agenda:

The appropriation of Jesus by certain Islamists serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it seeks to rally Christian support against Israel, framing it as an occupying force. Secondly, it exposes a glaring hypocrisy within the Islamist narrative, wherein they assert rights over disputed lands but dismiss similar claims made by other religious communities, such as Hindus reclaiming the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Islamist Hypocrisy:

The Islamist goal of establishing Dar-ul Islam, a world under Islamic rule, becomes evident in their selective acknowledgment of historical facts. While they demand recognition of Muslim claims, they dismiss evidence of temples being destroyed to build mosques, as exemplified by the cases of the Babri structure and Gyanvapi mosque. This double standard underscores the ulterior motives behind their geopolitical narratives.
