To debunk the baseless comments and strong anti-Sanatana bias represented by DMK’s head honcho, let’s embark on a fact-checking journey on the meanings behind Vedic rituals.

Seating Arrangements for Wedding

Stalin comments in the video that the bride and groom in orthodox weddings were made to sit uncomfortably on the floor. His idea of comfort before tradition showcases his low regard for Sanatan tradition and rituals.

In a Sanatani marriage, the seating arrangements have symbolic significance. The couple sits on the floor side by side to symbolize equality in their roles in marriage and life. Moreover, the position emphasizes mutual understanding to establish a strong foundation in the sacred union. By sitting on the floor, the bride and groom display a connection to ‘Prithvi’ or one of the five tattvas. Thus, this connection is an essential step in being immersed in the many rituals that would follow during a wedding.

Sacred Fire of Yagya

CM Stalin pointlessly described the yagya fire and smoke as the cause of tears for everyone at the wedding. He willfully neglected to underscore the importance of ‘Agni’ in Sanatani ceremonies.

Fire symbolizes purity and acts as a divine witness in Sanatani rituals. The Yagya fire helps a Hindu couple connect with the ‘Agni’ element of the five tattvas.

Moreover, the ‘Yagya Samagri’ burns to produce a unique smoke that purifies the air around the Vivaha Mandap. It helps to ensure the ‘Vayu’ tattva present is filled with positivity in the area where divine promises are made by two spiritual entities to each other.

Additionally, the ‘Agni’ in the yagya kund represents the ‘atman’ within living beings! All promises in a Vivaha are made by the couple to the ‘atman’ inside each other aptly represented by the fire. Thus, the fire and smoke are like a conduit for prayers offered to the divine supreme. They help in binding two Sanatani individuals in a spiritual connection and not a contractual Abrahamic transaction.

Mantras and Deities

Contrary to CM Stalin’s claim, pandits understand the meanings of mantras and shlokas. In fact, in most weddings, Sanatani priests ensure that the couple understands each vow they make in the ‘Saptapadi’ ritual and beyond. They elaborate on every small or big Vivaha ritual to ensure that everyone understands that marriage is a commitment of karma and dharma!

Additionally, even CM Stalin’s claim of hideous meanings of marriage mantras is unfounded. The ‘Mangalashtak’ mantras recited during the ‘Mangalsutra’ ceremony and ‘Sindoor Daan’ shlokas mark the auspiciousness of the occasion. They invite divine blessings for the couple that hope to walk the spiritual and worldly path together. Each mantra holds a deep spiritual significance and represents the moral commitment the couple makes towards each other.

Thus, CM Stalin’s statements in the old video demonstrate a dire lack of understanding of the intricate details of Sanatani rituals and marriages. Vedic customs and Sanatani mantras are steeped in symbolism and spirituality.

A shallow man will always look in the mirror to find himself. However, a spiritual man shall find himself reflected in every speck of the great cosmos.

Since CM Stalin is more of an Abrahamic believer, we Sanatanis must strive to forgive and ignore him. Like Jesus Christ said; ‘Forgive him for he knows not what he says!!!!’ However, Bharat must also take note of the vitriolic half-truths that are used by politicians to vilify Sanatana Dharma and its beliefs. Obviously, the beauty, spirituality, and depth of the sacred union of two souls in Hindu orthodox marriages escape those who are unable to look beyond their petty political gains. As informed netizens shame the old video, let’s try to preserve the cultural integrity of Bharat’s heritage by voting for those who understand and believe in them.
