In recent developments, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shed light on the importance of timely communication within political alliances. Addressing a range of issues, including her absence from the cancelled INDIA bloc meeting and pending dues from the Centre, Mamata emphasized the need for proactive collaboration among opposition parties.

The INDIA Bloc Meeting:

Mamata Banerjee revealed that she had not received an invitation to the INDI Alliance bloc meeting at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence, a meeting that was eventually cancelled. When Rahul Gandhi reached out to her two days prior to the scheduled event, she expressed her unavailability due to prior commitments. Stressing the importance of timely communication, Mamata highlighted the challenges faced by chief ministers when not provided sufficient notice.

She affirmed her commitment to future opposition bloc meetings but urged alliance partners to inform at least seven to ten days in advance for effective participation.

Pending Dues and Meeting with Prime Minister Modi:

Union Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh suggested that Mamata Banerjee should personally meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address pending dues from the Centre. The West Bengal Chief Minister announced her intention to meet the Prime Minister soon. Mamata shared her past efforts, mentioning three previous meetings with the Prime Minister and written letters protesting against Bengal’s alleged deprivation. She also disclosed plans for a ‘Delhi Chalo’ program. Mamata seeked permission for a sit-in demonstration to request time from the Prime Minister.

Criticism of Congress and INDIA Bloc:

Following the Congress party’s electoral setbacks in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan, Mamata Banerjee was the first to criticize the party. She attributed the defeats to the Congress itself rather than the people. Mamata held the party responsible for not collaborating on seat-sharing with partners of the INDIA bloc. The bloc was formed to counter the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls next year!

Mamata Banerjee’s recent statements reveals the cracks in the INDI Alliance. As the political landscape continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how quickly this Alliance collapses!
