The Winter session of Parliament has started with a blast! On 8th December 2023, the Lok Sabha accepted the recommendation of the Ethics Committee to expel Mahua Moitra. ‘Bagmati’ Moitra was a TMC MP, who was fairly caught in unethical behavior that compromised Bharat’s national security.
Since the ‘Cash For Query’ scandal on Madam Moitra has broken out, she has accused her ex-boyfriend and lawyer Jai Anant of framing her on false charges. She has accused the MP Nishkant Dubey of setting a political trap for her. Thereafter, she accused the Ethics Committee of being biased against her and of asking her ‘irrelevant’ or ‘dirty’ questions. Moreover, she has questioned the power of the Lok Sabha to remove her from her MP status. Finally, she has accused the BJP of targeting her as an empowered English-Speaking-Woman MP. Basically, as per ‘Bagmati’ Moitra everyone else is to blame for the fact that she traded the nation’s interests for her own and was caught in the bargain with the help of her ex!! Let’s talk about how Madam Moitra is trending with #HaramiMahua!!!

Bagmati Moitra’s expulsion is not a surprise for anyone, not even herself! If you look closely at her post-expulsion interview, she even had a speech written and ready to play her blame game! Apart from accepting gifts and favors for asking Adani-related questions in the parliament, Madam Moitra has a pattern of controversial behavior.

Accusations against Bagmati Moitra include assaulting a female police officer, abusing a fellow MP with the word ‘Harami’, and even giving a middle finger gesture to a journalist while on air. She loves to drop ‘Adani‘ bombshells at every drop of the hat! Why? That’s the dot-dot alliance’s chosen 2024 general election target against BJP. She celebrates the abuses flung at PM Modi. She disrespects Ma Kali but calls herself a devout Ma Durga bhakt! Is her only qualification her English speaking skills? Or is it her foul verbose speeches that torment the ears? Only her darling voters know the truth!

The present situation draws eerie parallels to the 2005 Cash-for-Query scandal, where 11 MPs were caught on camera accepting money for raising questions in Parliament. These MPs were expelled like Madam Moitra. Was that a Kangaroo Court Decision too? Of course not!
Then, why is there so much drama about her expulsion? The 2024 general elections are near. Every doubt that the opposition parties can create about the integrity of BJP and PM Modi may sway some voters. The dot-dot alliance which showed solidarity with Madam Moitra by staging a walkout were the very same leaders who expelled the MPs in 2005. Thus, at least they should show some shame and reinforce the principle of accountability which is paramount in maintaining the sanctity of the legislative body.

Mahua Moitra’s expulsion while blaming Adani is ridiculous! Why? Indian authorities found no foul play in Adani’s trading practices till 201. The USA’s government found the Hindenburg report untrue and has invested in Adani Group’s Srilanka project. Hilariously, even the TMC has dealings with the Adani Group in West Bengal.
Adani pulled out of the Tajpur deal in November 2023 because of West Bengal’s red tape. Contrary to what Bagmati Mahua claims, the Modi government did not award Adani the Dhamra Port contract. The agreement was inked in 2013, under the Congress’s UPA rule!!! Moreover, Adani had acquired Dhamra Port from Tata Steel and L&T. Thereby, proving that these industrialists are no particular politician’s best friend. They go where they can make a profit and where they find growth opportunities! Thus, Moitra’s claims that the Modi government “gifted” Dhamra to Adani is a blatantly ‘NON-SACH’!!!!

The trending #HaramiMahua is not about the denial of Mahua Moitra ‘s womanhood or her ‘Nari Shakti’! It is a celebration of justice served to low-level politicians who got too big for their boots!!! No matter how many times Mahua Moitra invokes the slogan of “Nari Shakti” in response to her expulsion, it does not negate the serious danger she poses to national security. Accountability is fundamental to the democratic process, however, this word does not seem to be part of the “English-Speaking-Nari-Shakti’ MP. Thus, Mahua Moitra’s expulsion underscores the consequences of compromising parliamentary decorum and national security. It highlights that all lawmakers must be held to the highest standards! Moreover, the trust and integrity of the legislative process and national security should never be trampled upon!
