A Spark Ignites

In 1976, during the filming of ‘Charas’ in Switzerland, a profound awakening stirred within Ramanand Sagar, affectionately known as Papaji. He sat in a quaint roadside café in Les Deblecaire with his sons, Subhash, Anand, and Prem. As they watched a French film on a color TV, then a novelty, Papaji made a life-altering decision.

Over a glass of red wine, he declared his departure from cinema and his new venture into television. His mission was clear: to narrate the virtuous tales of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram, Shri Krishna, and Maa Durga to mankind.

Rising Above Challenges

Skepticism from industry peers met the Sagars’ transition from cinema to television. They questioned Papaji’s vision and the feasibility of ‘Ramayan.’

Despite these challenges, Papaji’s unwavering determination and deep faith in his story led him to create the iconic TV show that resonates with millions today.

His perseverance stands as a testament to the power of conviction and determination.
