The Mohammedan Conquest of Bharat is a chilling testament to the barbaric nature of the Islamics fragility of civilization. It’s a tale not of triumph, but of a tragedy that shook the very foundations of a once prosperous nation.

The Onset of Invasion

The first Muslim attack into India was a fleeting raid on Multan, in western Punjab, in 664 A.D. This marked the beginning of a series of invasions that would forever change the course of Indian history, casting a long and dark shadow over the land, the traces of which linger to this day.

The Reign of Mahmud

Mahmud, a name that would become synonymous with terror, descended into India every winter, filling his treasure chest with spoils and granting his men the freedom to pillage and kill. Each spring, he returned to his capital, his wealth growing with each expedition, while India bled.

Six years later, he sacked the opulent city of Somnath, slaughtering all its fifty thousand inhabitants and dragging its wealth back to Ghazni. While he became one of the richest kings in history, his reign of terror stripped the Hindus in India of their dignity.

The Rise of the Sultans

The first of these bloody sultans, Kutb-ud-Din Aibak, was a fanatical, ferocious, and merciless ruler. Aibak killed and enslaved hundreds of thousands. The list of horrors is long and painful. In the contemporary record – Taj-ul-Maasir by Hassn Nizam-i-Naishapuri, it is stated that when Kutb-ud-Din Aibak (of Turko – Afghan origin and the First Sultan of Delhi 1194-1210 AD) conquered Meerat, he demolished all the Hindu temples of the city and erected mosques on their sites.

His successor, Balban, dealt with rebels and brigands by casting them under the feet of elephants or skinning them alive. His reign was marked by terror and exploitation, which further weakened the Hindu physique and morale, pushing India further into the abyss.

The Rule of Firoz Shah

Firoz Shah, another sultan, invaded Bengal, offering a reward for every Hindu head. He paid for 180,000 of them, raided Hindu villages for slaves, and died at the ripe age of eighty. His reign was a reign of terror, a reign that saw the light of Bharat dim further.

The people of Bharat, despite the hardships, continued to resist and hold onto their culture and identity. Their resilience in the face of such adversity is a testament to their indomitable spirit.

The Aftermath

The sultan’s advisers drew up rules for grinding down the Hindus and depriving them of their wealth and property. Half of the gross produce of the soil was collected by the government, compared to the one-sixth taken by native rulers. This was the final blow, the blow that stripped India of its elite status and reduced it to a shadow of its former self.

The Muslim Conquest of Bharat is a tale that reveals the extent of brutality that was inflicted upon the Hindus. The proud Hindus fought valiantly and chose death over conversion. Those who did fall to the sword, live to this day as enemies to their own brothers, whose ancestors once fought side by side against the plague of Islam. Despite their best efforts, the Hindus have pushed back harder, but the wounds of barbarity remain!
