There is no doubt that The Washington Post is an Ant-Modi portal! It has repeatedly run smear campaigns against PM Modi and the rising Bharat. In the name of journalism, it runs half-truths that are strongly colored with a Hinduphobic point of view. Since media outlets play a crucial role in shaping public opinion, it is important for them to present a correct narrative on any incident. However, for most media companies making a quick buck is more important than the responsibility of presenting accurate information.

In the name of Fress Press, most popular media outlet prefers sensationalism. Such is the case of “The Washington Post”. Recently, it published a report that alleges targeting of Apple by the Modi government after the company issued warnings to many Indians, some of which were Indian journalists and opposition politicians. However, this is another half-truth presented in the name of freedom of speech. Let’s talk about how Union Minister for Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, vehemently rebutted these claims as “half facts, fully embellished.”

Smear Campaign Using Apple and Modi Government

The Washington Post collaborated with Amnesty International to present a report on 27th December. The report claims that Indian journalists were targeted with spyware on their iPhones allegedly in October. Moreover, the report accused the Modi Government of taking swift action against Apple for issuing such a warning about potential hacking attempts.

Apple 'State-Sponsored Attackers' Alerts Spark Massive Political Controversy In India: Five Highlights

PC Swarajya

Here are a few anomalies in the report:

  1. The report cites anonymous sources to reiterate how the Modi Government was angry with Apple. However, it fails to cite the full warning and official claims of Apple itself on the incident. Apple states in its response that it cannot attribute the warnings to hacking, generic or state-sponsored!
  2. It retraces the incidents to the Pegasus Spyware Incident. Thereafter, it quotes that the company states that the software is licensed to law enforcement or intelligence agencies only. However, it fails to give credence to the following statement presented by the company head in the article itself that clarifies that only when a security threat is marked against a phone will the software allow spying!
  3. Thereafter, the report tries to build a link between the hacking warnings to Adani! Here the writers seem to have stepped off the edge of reality to state that any critique of Adani is investigated using Pegasus by the Modi government.
  4. Additionally, the report goes on to bat in favor of MP Mahua Mopitra. The report ignores the presence of proven affidavits on Mahua Moitra’s ‘Cash for Query’ scandal. Moreover, it tries to excuse the incident as defamation of the MP. They forget that she herself has confessed to ‘renting’ out her Lok Sabha ID to Adani’s business rival.
  5. Additionally, the report links Chinese mouthpiece NewsClick to Pegasus and Apple’s October warnings. The link between China-funded NewsClick is an acknowledged fact. Moreover, the website and its owner were on the payroll of the CCP. However, the report tried to whitewash this reality. Thus, it alleges that people who were protesting against government actions on NewsClick became a Pegasus target.

Therefore, the list of allegations made by The Washington Post against the Modi government is endless. However, the report uses anonymous, unverified sources. The writers use unrevealed letters/emails to play a game of cloak and dagger with the truth!

Minister Chandrasekhar Sets the Record Straight

Rebutting @washingtonpost 's terrible story telling is tiresome, but someone has to do it.

Left out of the story is Apples response on Oct 31- day of threat notifications

Minister Chandrasekhar expressed his exasperation on social media with the “terrible storytelling” of The Washington Post.

Moreover, he calls the report a story full of half facts that present a fully embellished perspective. The Minister’s words are a clear intent to set the record straight in public.

Minister Chandrasekhar raises notable concerns about the omitted details in the story. He underscored the absence of the complete response by Apple. In its response, the company clarifies that it is unable to attribute threat notifications to specific state-sponsored attackers. Quoting Apple’s statement, Minister Chandrasekhar emphasizes that the company acknowledges the possibility of false alarms and undetected attacks. Moreover, the company stated that it cannot issue detailed information about threat notifications to prevent potential adaptation by future attackers.

Furthermore, the Minister states that Apple was invited to join the inquiry with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (IndianCERT). He further confirms that meetings on the issue have been held and the inquiry is still ongoing.

Minister Chandrasekhar categorically dismissed the rest of Washington Post’s story as “creative imagination & clickbaiting at work masquerading as journalism.” A thorough read of the article shows that the narrative lacks factual accuracy. Furthermore, he hints that the report seems driven by sensationalism and paid journalism rather than a commitment to the truth.

If a report paints George Soros as a philanthropist, NewsClick as a responsible media outlet, and Mahua Moitra as an honest MP; you know for sure that its content is unbelievable! The Deep State stooges are targeting the Modi government! It just shows that maybe PM Modi is doing something that jeopardizes their dishonest and devious plans for Bharat.

‘Free The Press’ and ‘Freedom of Speech’ for media outlets is their right to present content with journalistic integrity. Thus, all media outlets must be held accountable if incomplete and inaccurate information is presented as facts. The allegations reported by The Washington Post against the Modi government using Apple’s name are completely baseless. Thus, let this report serve as a reminder on the importance of critical evaluation and accurate unbiased reporting. Moreover, let this report show that the presentation of facts cannot be an art of half-truths playing ‘fancy dress’ in the age of information. Never let sensationalism overtake the pursuit of truth in journalism!
