Jaipur Dialogues Varanasi Welcomes Modi!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in his constituency Varanasi for a Two day visit. He received a grand welcome by Yogi Adityanath and party karyakarta on Thursday night. On this two day visit he will lay foundation stones for development projects worth more than Rs.13,202 crore.

According to a senior administrative official, “The PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of 12 projects worth Rs. 2,195 crores and inaugurate 24 projects worth Rs. 11,972 crores.” He will also attend a program at BHU, where he will give prizes to the winners of the Kashi Sansad Sanskrit Pratiyogita, Kashi Sansad Photography Pratiyogita, and Kashi Sansad Gyan Pratiyogita. At Kashi Sansad Photography Pratiyogita, he will be interacting with the participants who submitted their photographs on the theme of “Sanwarti Kashi.” He will also be distributing books, uniform sets, music instruments, and merit scholarships to Varanasi’s Sanskrit students.

The PM will first take part in a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of a Sansad Sanskrit Pratiyogita at BHU. Next, Modi is supposed to offer pooja at Sant Guru Ravidas Janmasthali at 11.15 a.m. He will then go to a public event honouring the 647th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, who has a sizable Dalit following. After that, he will officially inaugurate the recently erected Sant Ravidas statue at Ravidas Park.

In addition, he will lay the cornerstone for the Sant Ravidas Park beautification project and museum worth Rs.62 crore.

He shall also inaugurate various development projects related to Sant Ravidas Janamsthali worth Rs.32 crore.

Around 1:30 PM, he will visit a dairy a milk processing facility owned by the Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd.

Development Projects-


The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple road projects in an effort to improve Varanasi’s road connectivity. These consist of the following-

  • 6 laning of phase-1 of the Varanasi-Aurangabad section of NH-19;
  • 4 laning of Package-1 Varanasi-Hanumana section on NH-35;
  • 4 laning of the Ghargra-Bridge-Varanasi section of NH-233;
  • 4 laning of the Sultanpur-Varanasi section of NH-56 (Package-1),
  • Constructing a Railway Over bridge (ROB) on the Varanasi-Jaunpur rail section near Babatpur. Additionally, the PM will lay the foundation stone for Package 1 of the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway.

In order to promote industrial development he will –

  • Inaugurate the Banas Kashi Sankul milk processing unit in UPSIDA,
  • Agro Park Karkhiyaon,
  • the LPG bottling plant by HPCL in Sewapuri,
  • Various infrastructure projects at UPSIDA Agro Park, Karkhiyaon, and a common facility center for weavers involved in printing silk fabrics.

Urban Development Projects-

  • Modi will inaugurate the NTPC’s urban waste to charcoal plant in Ramana,
  • The upgrading of the water supply network in the Sis-Varuna area,
  • The SCADA automation of STPs and sewerage pumping stations,
  • PM Modi will also lay the groundwork for a number of beautification initiatives in Varanasi, such as those aimed at revitalizing ponds, redesigning parks, and creating a 3-D digital map and database.

Tourism Related-

  • The projects include the launch of an electric catamaran vessel provided by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) for Varanasi and Ayodhya,
  • The renovation of public facilities at 5 Padavs of Panchkoshi Parikrama Marg and Pavan Path with ten spiritual yatra,
  • The construction of 7 change rooms for floating jetties and 4 community jetties. The PM will also lay the foundation for quick pontoon opening mechanism at Ballia as well as 13 community jetties of IWAI in various cities.

In order to strengthen the textile industry he will lay the foundation stone of NIFT Varanasi. Then to strengthen the sports infrastructure he will also inaugurate the Phase 1 of Sigra Sports Stadium.
